TO CHICAGO CHAPTER |
| The
Chicago Chapter was chartered in May 1953.
The membership has grown to over 250 professionals
from many federal agencies, public accounting firms;
state, county, and local governments, universities,
and private firms. The Chapter's membership also
includes students, self-employed, and retired individuals.
Most members are employed in auditing by federal
agencies. Many members hold advanced degrees as well
as CPA, Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM),
and Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) certificates. |
| ACCOMPLISHMENTS |
| The
Chapter's many accomplishments over the years include
hosting a very successful AGA Professional Development
Conference (PDC), participating in a nationwide
teleconference on revisions to government auditing
standards, sponsoring full-day training events,
winning best chapter and best newsletter awards,featuring
the U.S. Comptroller General at two monthly meetings,and
establishing a student financial management club
at Chicago State University. Each year the Chapter's
monthly luncheon meetings have introduced quality
speakers including several Inspectors General. Its
newsletters have consistently published interesting
and informative articles. The Chapter has also granted
scholarships and sponsored Voluntary Income Tax
Assistance (VITA) programs, food and clothing drives,
and financial management courses for minority business
persons. |
| MISSION
STATEMENT |
| The
mission of the AGA Chicago Chapter is to carry out
an educational responsibility of enhancing public
financial management and accountability. AGA through
its chapters is a leading advocate for improving
the quality and effectiveness of government fiscal
administration. The Chapter serves the public interests
of financial managers and auditors from local, state
and federal governments from the Chicago area. The
Chapter provides an opportunity for accountants
and auditors to meet on a regular basis for training
and networking. |
